| President, Los Angeles Local |
|
| LA President, 2nd National Vice-President, National & Local Board of Directors. Thanks to the nominating committee for choosing me to continue as your Local President. We have created more opportunities for members through workshops and classes in the last two years to meet industry professionals to help advance their careers and I will push for even more. Serving members needs has been my first concern and if elected will continue to be first on my list. Over the last year we have through our contracts created more chances for work at better wages for members and I am glad to have been part of making that possible for you. Voting for me will ensure my advocacy for you.

I've
been a National and Local Board member for over twenty years and have
served as a National Vice President and LA Local President. The union
movement is undergoing tremendous change in the US. In an economy
where entire UAW shops are negotiating downwards just to keep their
jobs, AFTRA jointly negotiated a commercials contract with real gains
for performers, and last summer kept our actors working against
incredible odds and direct opposition from a sister union. AFTRA
is moving at an incredible pace, organizing, negotiating, building
alliances across the union spectrum and gaining respect among our
employers. We need an elected leadership willing to do the work to
educate our members and involve the rank and file at every level of
union service.

I have been a member of both AFTRA/SAG for over 20 years, working on contracts from TV series (90210) to Soaps, Commercials, Animation, etc. As a National and Local AFTRA Board member these last three years I've been working on the Negotiating Committees of Net Code, Primetime and Commercials. It’s a very challenging time in our industry, negotiating contracts which keep our performers working while improving wages, health and retirement, and securing jurisdiction. Working together with our sister union, as the landscape of our industry becomes more and more diverse, is absolutely necessary to our making a living as performers and keeping our unions powerful. I am committed to our membership and promise to keep us strong and working towards our future as it continues to grow and change.

It
would be an honor to continue serving the members of AFTRA alongside
the dedicated leaders who successfully negotiate your contracts,
organize new work, and develop programs to educate and assist members.
As I write this from NY, we have just successfully negotiated the
Commercials Contract with fellow SAG members. I am proud of everyone
who participated. Prior service has included negotiating committees for
Net Code and TV/Theatrical contracts as well, for more than a decade. I
am over 25 years vested in both AFTRA and SAG. Goals: more jobs, more
money, more unity between unions.

Series regular: Eli Stone, EVE, Sunset Beach. Features: Barbershop, Three Can Play That Game. The industry's never been tougher, money tighter, or negotiations more combative. We need calm, determined, experienced people negotiating our contracts. My experiences positively impacted the last THREE Primetime Television Contracts. I’ll continue fighting for you and the best possible contracts. We must fight divisive forces trying to break our united performer’s front. MERGE and Forge a 21st CENTURY UNION, SOLVING 21ST CENTURY PROBLEMS like New Media, Jurisdictional Conflict, Product Integration and Runaway Production. LA and National boards, local 4th VP, Co-Chair Equal Employment Opportunity Committee.

Having served our Local for close to 30 years, I’ve seen several transitions of Executive Directors, as well as our staff and the Board itself. But AFTRA remains a member-driven union. I've been closely involved in the development of member participation in committees that serve members. I participate in the New Member Orientation Committee; Legislative and Public Affairs Committee; National Finance Committee; National Pension and Health Issues Committee. AFTRA has been referred to as an “open Union”. Indeed, the doors are open to all members with work issues, as well as those in need. I am Vice President of our Frank Nelson Sick & Benefit Fund.

I ‘m running again as a member of the AFTRA Leadership Team asking for your support. You know that our business is under attack. Our health care charges and qualifications for it continue to rise, while our salaries and residuals decline. SAG is facing the same problems, but unlike SAG, AFTRA has a Prime Time contract and has signed on many new shows at higher rates. This is current and future work for our members. No one has enough money to pay any of us what we’re worth, but the AFTRA Leadership Team and I will continue to fight for your fair share of the pie.
